Blogging Advice

Blogging Advice

I’ve never done one of these posts and I’m not the best blogger out there. I’m just little old me, but I wanted to give my tiny bit of wisdom to all my readers and who knows maybe it will help someone. I haven’t been blogging for long, just over a year and a half now, although it feels like I’ve been doing it for years. However, this is what I’ve learnt so far and what I think may help some of you out there. I hope.¬†

Write for yourself

Don’t follow trends. Do what you want to write about. If you follow trends your heart isn’t going to be in it and you’re gonna sound like your just writing for the sake of it. Which let’s be frank, you are. Write about your passions, write about your life. Literally write about anything you have ever wanted to write about and more and so many people will enjoy that more because they will get to know you as a person, as well as your writing style. Honestly, you will regret it if you just write the same old stuff other bloggers do because you will be constantly comparing yourself to them. It’s not about them, it’s about you.

Be consistent

I’ve found over the year that when I post more and I engage more with my audience my engagement is so much better. People will start to remember your scheduled days and look forward to the next post. I do have to say, schedules are hard to stick by. I struggle a lot, especially having a job and working as a full-time university student, as well as blogging, its hard. Take a few hours out of your week though to sit down and schedule a few posts for the next week. You’ll then get in to that routine and it will become like clockwork. Fun clockwork though, not a day you’ll dread because it will be doing something you love.

Give away knowledge / your opinion

If you have an opinion, spread it. Not everyone is going to agree with it but hey that’s not what your here for. Thats not why you made your platform, you made it for yourself and to express you as a person. You weren’t brought in to this world to please every person you meet, you were born to make a life for yourself that you loved and if that means you have certain opinions about something. For god sake, share it. Same goes with knowledge, not everyone will be interested in the knowledge that you may know but your writing for yourself and yourself only. If people enjoy it, bonus. Do you and don’t care about other people’s opinions.

Give it time

Don’t rush in to things, if you had what people who don’t understand what blogging is say a “normal job” you’d have to work yourself up to be the best and be in the position you want to be. Why is it any different to being a blogger, it will take time, but if you work your butt off and put your heart in to it and enjoy it, you’ll get there. Everyone does, but be patient. We all get frustrated that things don’t move too quickly, but then complain time moves too fast. Us humans are never happy, so take your time.

Be yourself

Most of all be yourself. People who love you in the real world love you for who you are as a person, so why should someone online who reads your passions and advice be any different. They are on this journey with you too, they want to know you. They want to know the girl or boy behind the screen, behind the wisdom, behind the knowledge and their own damn opinion. Be yourself.

Thanks for reading, I will be doing a part 2 so I hope you all enjoy reading this. Let me know in the comments below your advice. See you on Tuesday for my Blanx review.

Love this post! I struggled to be consistent through September, I’m trying hard to be more constant through October! The thing that helps me is early planning of posts I want to write either in a diary or on an app like Trello.
