Our next girl Behind the Screen is the lovely Roxanne (thehappydiary), who is 19 years old. She was born in Berkeley California but she now lives in Switzerland. Roxanne currently is doing a year of preparation for the Geneva Art & Design University (HEAD) and will start her first year of bachelor in September. Not only that but she will study product, jewellery and accessory design. Outside of school, she is a beauty, fashion and lifestyle blogger. Roxanne talks about how Emma Watson is her biggest influence and how Too Faced and Tarte are her favourite beauty brands.
What were you doing before blogging and how did you get in to it?
Before starting a blog, I was in high school so I was in need of a hobby. I was thinking of starting a YouTube channel but I was too shy so I decided to start a blog instead!
What’s the best thing you’ve done so far within your blog?
The best thing I’ve done so far within my blog is getting a gorgeous template to make it look much more professional and more like me. I also wrote my first sponsored post, which I am super proud about!
Who is your biggest influence?
My biggest influence (for life in general) is probably Emma Watson. I love her personality, her style and most of all what she stands for (Time’s Up, Women’s rights, etc…). Blogging wise, I’d say my biggest influence is Victoria Margath (not sure if I spelled her last name right) aka InTheFrow on YouTube and on her blog (inthefrow.co.uk).
Best advice you’ve ever been given?
The best advice I’ve been given is to never give up and to stay happy no matter what.
What do you do in your spare time?
In my spare time (besides blogging), I like to take baths, binge watch series and watch YouTube videos. I also love hanging out with my family!
What is your favourite and least favourite part about blogging?
My favourite part about blogging is creating content, taking pictures and interacting with my readers and other fellow bloggers. As for my least favourite part about blogging (even though I don’t think I can think of any bad aspects of blogging) would maybe be finding time to blog. Since I am a student, finding time can sometimes be a little tricky but I’ve managed to upload a blog post every week since I started my blog!
Favourite beauty brands at the moment?
My favourite beauty brands are Tarte and Too Faced!
What is a typical day in your life?
A typical day in my life would be:
-6:15am wake up
-6:30-7:00am getting ready
-7:15am train to Geneva
-8:00am school starts
-12:00am-1:00pm lunch break
-5:00pm end of school day
-5:19pm train to my hometown
-6:00pm at home (study, chill time)
-7:30pm dinner time
-9:00pm bedtime (yes I go to bed early haha)
What one product wouldn’t you live without?
One product I couldn’t live without would be my phone, just for communication reasons. Beauty wise, I couldn’t live without mascara!
Three words to describe you
Creative, introvert and happy.
How would you describe your personal style?
I would describe my personal style as feminine and casual.
Drugstore or high-end gal?
Honestly, I use both drugstore and high-end products, although I think I own a little more high-end ones…
Best advice to bloggers.
My best advice to other bloggers would be to stay true to yourself and have fun!
