Hello my lovelies, today I’m talking to another Pompey blogger, Chelsea Baxter. Chelsea is 25 years old and works at Aerial Telephones, just doing admin work and processing but she has worked on and off for 5 years now. She lives in a shared house with two sausage dogs, which she moved into last year however, Chelsea is thinking of moving to Notts end of this year to be with her boyfriend who she met whilst doing a season in Ibiza two years ago! Chelsea talks about how her boyfriend is her biggest influence and how her essential wardrobe piece is the colour black! Girl after my own heart.
What were you doing before blogging and how did you get in to it?
I’ve only been blogging for a year now and it seems like I can’t remember a time before that! I’ve been meaning to get into for years but never had the courage to do so in case people didn’t read it. I took the plunge after following lots of bloggers on Instagram and was absolutely loving their accounts so I got myself a MAC laptop and here we are!
Who is your biggest influence?
To be fair, I have quite a few influences within the blogging community. These are people who I read their blogs religiously as I love seeing them progress and do well which motivates me to do so too. My other biggest influence, is a bit cringey, would be my boyfriend – he constantly motivates me to do better and even though he isn’t interested in make-up etc, he always supports every post I do and gets excited for me when I receive engagement or opportunities from brands.
Best advice you’ve ever been given?
‘What will be, will be’ – this could relate to anything! It’s something I always stick by though. If it happens then great, if it doesn’t then either learn from it or enjoy the ride.
What do you do in your spare time?
In my spare time (which I barely have at the moment), I’m either going back and forth to Nottingham visiting my boyfriend or seeing friends. If I’m by myself, because I do love a bit of me time, then I’m constantly on YouTube watching make up tutorials/reviews – I find them so therapeutic!
What is your favourite and least favourite part about blogging?
My favourite part is hearing people have read my blog or asking me for advice on things, I feel like I’m accomplishing something when I know people are interested in my thoughts and opinions. However, my least favourite part is feeling uninspired or when things aren’t going right, for example my pictures aren’t coming out the way I want. Now that summer is approaching, it does make it easier to take those photos!
Favourite beauty brands?
My fav high-end brand would have to be Huda Beauty at the moment, her eyeshadow formulas are so easy to use and blendable, not to mention the shade ranges in each palettes are a dream but not just that, the liquid lipsticks are some of the best. My favourite drugstore brand would be either L’Oreal or Make up Revolution – you can get some really good bargains for quality products which I love.
What is a typical day in your life?
Most of the time, Monday – Friday would consist of work, go to the gym, come home to cook dinner and chores, but when I’m finally settled in my jim jams then I’ll get on with a bit of blog work or catch up on YouTube. I’m never usually indoors on the weekends whether that’s because I’m out with friends/boyfriend or I’m in Nottingham.
What one product couldn’t you live without?
It sounds typical for our generation however I know I couldn’t live without my phone. I’m rubbish at texting and rarely respond but then I’m always on social media flicking through Instagram or twitter – whoops. In terms of beauty, I don’t think I could live without my Freedom Eyebrow Pomade and my L’Oreal Paradise Mascara – holy grails right there!
Three words to describe you
Funny (obviously), Ambitious and friendly
How would you describe your personal style?
My personal style is a funny one. I’m suited for winter but not for summer as my wardrobe consists of just black. I’m trying to switch it up a bit and to add more colour this summer but then I always revert to black. I would just live in dresses/oversized t-shirts and platforms if I could!
I feel you on that one girl haha, although this year I have ventured out to more colour which I am very proud about!
Drugstore or high-end gal?
I love high-end products however my bank balance doesn’t (hence my blog name is that skint gal because I’m always skint due to make up purchases) so at the moment I have been loving raiding Superdrug, Boots and even Primark.
Best advice to other bloggers.
My best advice would be to not take things too seriously and to find enjoyment in what you do. I’ve seen a lot of bloggers recently wanting to take a step back as they’re lacking the passion they once had. I don’t believe you can truly be committed to something unless you find that motivation to succeed within it and with that you have to enjoy it, otherwise what is the point? I don’t want to live to work, I want to work to live.
Thanks for reading my lovelies, tune in tomorrow for my interview with Charlotte (Multi Bendy Beauty).
