Hello my lovelies, July is almost over. Where is this year going? Today I’m talking to Alicia Ung, age 21, born in Malaysia but now lives in London. She’s a University student and does makeup videos for her Instagram page. Alicia talks about how where she is from she would get massively judged for wearing makeup and how now its her life.
What were you doing before blogging and how did you get in to it?
Before doing blogging/makeup on IG, it was just all about University. Classes. Assignments. And a mountain of essays. I wouldn’t say I just started makeup in recent years. I wore makeup since at the age of 12 with only concealer, powder, eyeliner and lipstick; and the only brand I know way back was, Maybelline. I wasn’t much into makeup at all because back when I was in my country, we are not allowed to wear makeup to school plus kids tend to get judge if we wear makeup so I don’t. I started learning properly when I was 19. Before that, I watched makeup videos from YouTube almost every single day like almost every typical girls, there are also times when I fell asleep watching it, lol. I fell in love watching beauty gurus doing their own makeup but hate that I don’t have the guts to wear it because I was too afraid of being judged. Then one day, I told myself, ‘Hello, Alicia. You’re in London. There is so much makeup available here. Your friends wear makeup to class daily. NOBODY WILL JUDGE YOU HERE. JUST GO AHEAD. ’. And since then, it changed my life, I am so passionate about makeup now. I wish I can do Makeup everyday but studies comes first, for now. What I really want to pass on to everyone is that, don’t kill your own dream, you write your own story, don’t let anyone else hold the pen.
Whats the best thing you’ve done so far within your blog?
A festival look, berry cut crease with sky blue reflect liner and a touch of purple glitters; other than that will be the Halloween Galaxy Zipper look (which is posted below).
Best advice you’ve ever been given?
If you don’t have a beautiful heart, you are no where close to beautiful inside and out.
What do you do in your spare time?
I have to confess, I’m a shopping addict. So yea, I shop, A LOT. Especially when I have spare time.
What is your favourite and least favourite part about blogging?
My favourite part is I get to experience something outside my comfort zone. I’m still trying to get comfortable in front of the camera.
Least will be about editing the videos because I’ll take a long time to edit as I’m still learning, veryyy slowww.
Favourite beauty brands?
Dose of colours. Their matte liquid lipstick is DA BOMB. Have you heard of their new release Block Party Eyeshadow, dang, really wanna get my hands on them but it’s currently sold out everywhere in the UK.
What is a typical day in your life?
Wake up – Go on IG for 2 hour – Shower – Lunch – Assignments – Convincing myself to go to gym everyday (three times a week now) – Watch a TV show, got into watching old disney shows recently like Wizards of the Waverly Place and HongKong drama, TVB – Dinner – Assignments again – Good night!
What one product couldn’t you live without?
Clarisonic cleansing brush with the Deep Pore brush head. This device is magical, it clears my pores instantly.
Three words to describe you?
I don’t care. I’m just more of a I don’t really care what people have to say about me kinda gurl (as long as it doesn’t cross the line).
Drugstore or high-end gal?
High-end but I am exploring more drugstore currently and I am lovin’ it so far!
Best advice to bloggers.
Just do it. And if there’s haters, ignore them because they hate us cause they ain’t us, biatch.
Thanks for reading my lovelies, tune in tomorrow for my interview with Paige.
