Hello my lovelies! I’m actually really proud of myself that these blog posts are all pre written before hand and scheduled up for this week. Its Tuesday today and I’ve got a Younique special. I kindly got sent some makeup from a lovely lady who works for Younique, called Karla. Here are my results:
First of all, the packaging. Quite sophisticated with the black packaging, but I wasn’t a massive fan of how everything was plastic. I might just be being picky but due to drugstore and high-end products now all being made out of glass or more expensive packaging I was a little disappointed. Especially for the price.
I started off with the primer, it looks like a silicon primer when out of the bottle but I was not a fan of this at all. It made my skin feel so greasy, it was literally like applying oil to the face. I’m so glad it didn’t break me out! I would have cried as my skin is at a reasonable stage at the moment. Then the foundation, so much hype about it having so much coverage. Again, I wasn’t a big fan at all. To start the colour was a little dark, you also have a pipette to get it out of the bottle which is good in a way as you then don’t use as much but this girl is used to her pump applications. I was also really looking forward to the coverage, but again I would say low to medium coverage. You could say its buildable but I feel it would get very cakey quickly, as it had already started to clog in to my pores. I do have to say though it gave a dewy finish which I do love, but I don’t think I’ll be grabbing for this foundation again. Unfortunately for the price as well, there’s definitely drugstore products like my favourite Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation which is much better and cheaper.
I was actually impressed with these at the start. So many colours to choose from and they are magnetic so you build your own palettes. These four shades were gorgeous, very pigmented I do have to say. I went straight in there with marvellous in my crease, I did not need a lot of product as this was so pigmented it was insane. I was not expecting it. I then used the shade fervent (very odd names I do have to say) just under my crease. I wasn’t experiencing any fall out until the shimmer shades. This was where it all went down hill. The first two shades I was finding hard to blend out but eventually got them to look okay. I decided I wanted a shimmer shade on my lid so chose the colour credulous. This was not very pigmented at all and you had to pack this on. The only problem with packing it on was that there was major fall out all underneath my eye. I looked like I had panda eyes aha. Once on the shade was nice but my eyes looked horrendous. Where the shades were so hard to blend out it just looked a mess! I felt like I was back in secondary school when makeup was pretty much non-existent and no one knew how to do it aha. Anyway moving on…
Karla gave me two mascaras to try the old Epic mascara and the new one with the fibres. I have to say the two aren’t that different and my drugstore mascaras actually work better. I was so upset as I first heard about Younique through their mascaras. The Epic mascara didn’t really do much apart from add some length. This wasn’t the worst part. I don’t know if it’s just me but fibres creep me out. When applying to my eyes the fibres were going everywhere and I mean everywhere. Not only on my lid but underneath my eye, on my nose. If I’m honest as well the more I was applying it as it says to layer up until happy I just wasn’t seeing a difference at all. I applied this to one eye and the Epic mascara to the other and they looked exactly the same, apart from the ones with fibres it looked a mess. Compared to the new L’oreal Paradise mascara that I am loving at the moment, this was nowhere near it.
The lipstick was the only product that I was actually impressed with. I love my nude lipsticks and this has got the most gorgeous pink undertone in it, along with some shimmer. It applies easily and it lasted a long time, especially the shimmer aha. If I was to purchase anything from Younique it would be their lipsticks.
Overall, for the price of Younique makeup compared to drugstore and even high-end as they are similar prices I wouldn’t recommend. Packaging, quality and price is a no from me apart from the lipstick but hey you can’t go wrong with a lipstick. Can you?
