Hello my lovelies! I love doing my makeup but let’s be honest sometimes its an effort. I’m a University Student and when it comes to the decision of more sleep or makeup, hello, I’m not stupid I am going to choose more sleep. Thankfully I don’t get the ‘you look ill’ comments anymore, maybe everyone’s used to me not wearing makeup now. Is that a good thing? Hell yes! You should be proud of your skin without makeup, embrace it. Not only does it do your skin wonders but your going to look in the mirror and actually love yourself without makeup, which is a major key in self-esteem and confidence. You need to love yourself first, all makeup does is enhance your natural beauty. Enjoy putting on your makeup and take time, instead of thinking you have to put it on because the media said you looked better with it. Please don’t listen to the manipulated garbage that the media displays, of course we all compare ourselves, heck I’m the worst for it when I see a really pretty girl on Instagram or Twitter. I beg myself not to but that tiny voice in my head says otherwise, right? Come on, we all do it but we shouldn’t! We need to learn to love ourselves before the makeup and way before the Photoshop. Please don’t Photoshop your pictures, you’re perfect the way you are. You only have one body to live in, love it.
So I digressed I’m sorry but it was important I said that, I want to help people realise their beauty and to really say we are all normal and perfect the way we are. However, today is about the times I actually can be bothered to lose sleep and do my makeup for those dreaded uni lectures. This makeup look is really simple and if I’m honest my skin care routine probably takes longer.
I start off with my Optical Illusion Primer from Urban Decay. I love this primer and I am super sad this is running out, but definitely going to take a trip to Denham’s to restock on this. I haven’t used a different primer since, I mean I’ve tried but none compare to this. It blurs my pores and I have major pores around my nose area which won’t budge and is the pain of my life. It also controls my redness and my makeup stays on all day. It does give you a bit of a white cast however, so you do end up looking like Caspar the ghost but hey I’m not complaining. For £23 some would say its a bit overpriced, but this has lasted me months now and its only just running out. Would definitely recommend.
I then go on to my Fresh Nude Foundation from The Body Shop. I was searching for ages for a foundation that would suit my skin type, I have combination skin but if I wear a heavy foundation my skin tends to breakout. I used to have acne and my skin is spot prone, yay for me. When presented this foundation by one of the lovely ladies in the shop, I fell in love like any Body Shop product really. This foundation was so light on the skin but gave me the light coverage I needed. I mainly use powder (Rimmel Stay Matte) with this to set it, but in the summer I’ve been loving the dewy look. For £15 I think this is a really good lightweight foundation. However, if you have dry skin I wouldn’t recommend. I’ve recently been getting some dry areas and its been sucking up my foundation and appearing patchy. This is down to my skin not the foundation though, soI would check first!
I then go on to eyebrows, normally when I do my ‘uni’ makeup look I don’t put on concealer, I leave it quite natural. I still want to let my skin breathe! With my eyebrows all I do is run my Gimme Brow from Benefit in shade 2 through them. It’s that simple. I’ve been letting my eyebrows grow out recently and they are starting to get a shape. Yay! Normally, if I’m going out I love defined eyebrows but a natural look in rushed time is my go to here. I got this free when I bought the new Boi-ing concealers (which I love and you can read all about them here Concealer Collection.
Next is mascara, I always change-up my mascara and can never decide on what one I like. However, at the moment I have been loving Roller Lash by Benefit. It makes my lashes super long and although it does transfer a bit under my eyes when applying on my bottom lashes, that’s nothing a cotton bud can’t correct. For £20.50 I think it’s a little overpriced as there are some drug end mascaras that do just as good.
I then finish off with lipstick. I apply my lipsalve from Boots as got to keep those babies hydrated. I have a lot of lipsticks but when I’m rushing I want the easiest one to apply. I have to say this one surprised me. I’ve been loving the lipstick crayon from Primark. Shock! It’s so creamy and such a gorgeous colour and for £2 who is complaining. I love the name as well ‘Ballerina’. This definitely makes me want to try out more Primark makeup.
To finish off I set my makeup with my Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray, which I absolutely love. It does everything it says on the packaging. You can last all night or day. For £23.50 I would definitely recommend this as its so worth the money.
So sorry that its been so long since I wrote. I recently moved in to my student house and wifi has not happened yet. Nightmare!! I’m currently writing this in the library and hoping to write a few so I can schedule them for all of you.
Hope your having an amazing week.
